Saturday

wont be going home today, his INR is still too low (1.3) to release him,
so he will continue to be on a heparin drip....   check it every 3 hours....

So he will lay back and watch football....  and surf the net....

Pain still not too bad, but he is still taking pain meds... to keep it controlled.
Ate oatmeal for breakfast...   gonna try blended potato soup for lunch..

His spirits are really good...  talking better than he thought he would...
But not up to conversations...  lol, but then that is not uncommon.....

SOS - new on iphone ios11 update

This is great for anyone....   needs more publicity...

In iOS 11, Apple added a new emergency feature to the iPhone, which is designed to allow you to quickly and discreetly place a call to emergency services. In the United States, SOS dials 911, and in other countries, it works with local emergency responders.

When you press the sleep/wake button on the iPhone five times on a device running iOS 11, it brings up a slider menu that allows you to quickly slide a finger against the screen to place the emergency call.

The extra step makes sure you don't accidentally place a 911 call, but if you want to disable it, there's an "Auto Call" feature you can toggle on to bypass the swipe.

When you use Emergency SOS on an iPhone, the feature also disables Touch ID, preventing a would-be thief or other person with malicious intent from accessing your device without entering your passcode. It also automatically alerts any emergency contacts you've set in the Health app, sending them an iMessage with your location.

Enabling Auto Call
SOS is automatically included on every iPhone running iOS 11 and there is no disabling it. Activate it by pressing on the sleep/wake button five times in rapid succession to bring up the swipe interface. If you want the feature to call emergency services automatically without the need for an extra gesture, here's how to toggle it on:

With Auto Call enabled, your phone will dial "911" (or your country's emergency line) after a three second countdown that gives you enough time to cancel the call if it's placed accidentally.

Setting Emergency Contacts
As mentioned above, whenever you use the SOS feature, Apple will automatically notify your emergency contacts if you have them set.

Emergency contacts can be set up in the Health app:
Open the Health app.
Choose Medical ID.
Select "Edit" in the top right corner.
Scroll down to the Emergency Contacts section.
Tap the "+" button to add an emergency contact.

This is where you can add your lvad on call number

Hurry up to wait.....
I know there are things that need to be done prior to surgery, but sometimes it just seems like time stands still......

We were to check into the hospital by 9am, so we did, but had no rooms...  but only waited for 30 minutes.  We are sharing a room right now, but are still on 8th floor.....  Larrys roommate is similar age, etc, but has not yet been recommended for LVAD yet..  He has had lots of questions for us....

Surgery is scheduled for 5pm..... hopefully it will be on time, etc....  empty waiting is hard on Larry....

So I will update here as Things happen.

6:15pm.... just took Larry back to surgery

7:00 pm   No word yet...

7:42pm    Still in surgery.......

8:10   Message fromTori, our nurse......
‘’We are getting finished up. He is a little bit oozy.
Probably will be in CVICU in about 30-45 minutes.
Gonna get some labs before we wake him up. ‘’

It is sooooo dang hard to watch him go through this stuff....

Btw - I forgot to mention the Dr Ransom encounter today... it was about 1 minute after I parked the car... i was in the lobby going into the admission area....   Dr tapped on the glass and asked Larry if he wanted him to pull them.....

Finally in cvicu
I am home finally for some rest.... when I got into his room he was hurting really bad, got him more pain meds and he was doing better, i stayed with him till it kicked in....
