Just LVAD medical updates....

Larry has seemed to have gotten over his bleed from 2 years ago, he hd to have some iron infusions this past year, but his ferritin leverls are now high and holding.

His diabetes is in good control and his last A1c was good...

Two cord episodes,
has a split in the sheath above the cord that connects to the controller, so that one cannot be changed out without surgery, but rescue tape has held it,

Then he developed another split thru which is closer to the controller, so this week during his clinic visit, the team were able to change that out successfully...  and quickly... this is scary because while cord is unhooked, no power to his heart....

In july he slipped and fell, while we thought it was all ok, he had apparently pulled his cord slightly, and developed an infection. 5 days in hospital and a month of IV antibiotics and he was good.  Before he was dusmissed the put a picc line in and I learned how to do IV antibiotic push, and IV drip bag... glad to say that it over, it was super scary to me....

Then one more hiccup.  They were doing equipment check and as they replaced the batteries in his control module, we discover green slime... in it... battery was corroding, so team changed the entire module out as well.   They had never seen that before, but on facebook LVAD friends group, someone had just gone through it.....

Ok when writing this down, it seems there was a lot more than I had thought....  since I really try to go day by day, I had forgotten those incidents...  but he almost to his 3 year vadiversary....
